MUSCAT, FEB 28 -

The PDO Medical Centre has continued to support the Ministry of Health blood donation team in its work to collect blood from community donors.

Several blood donation campaigns are conducted every year at the Company’s Mina Al Fahal headquarters and Interior locations and attract a good response from both PDO employees and contractors.

A total of 265 employees participated in the latest campaign, held recently in collaboration with the Ministry of Health Blood Bank.

The event created a wider awareness of the need for regular donation because of the short shelf-life of blood components and encouraged existing and potential donors to donate blood at regular intervals. Last year, 600 units of blood were collected from PDO volunteers during donation sessions.

Dr Sulaiman al Rawahi, Chief Medical Officer at PDO said: “Blood donating not only can save a patient’s life but also can help the donor improve their body metabolism. The Ministry of Health Blood Bank and PDO Medical team would like to extend their sincere thanks to all employees and contractors who donated blood in this event.”
