MUSCAT: The Board of Directors of the Public Authority for Social Insurance (PASI) on Thursday held its first meeting for this year under the chairmanship of Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser al Bakri, Minister of Manpower, PASI Board Chairman. The meeting reviewed the outcomes and results of the consultative lab, organised by the Authority in coordination with the International Labour Organisation (ILO) last January to study the proposed financing options to finance the unemployment insurance scheme.
It also discussed a number of issues related to applications from some insured about the insurance entitlements paid to them, as well as applications by employers to amend their conditions with the Authority. The Board also reviewed a investment opportunities which have been approved by the Investment Committee. The board discussed administrative applications from the executive management to regularise the works of some committees and took appropriate decisions in their regard. — ONA
