Parliamentary ties with France to be strengthened

MUSCAT: State Council Vice-Chairman Shaikh Dr Al Khattab bin Ghalib al Hinai on Tuesday met French Senator Jean-Marie Bockel, Vice-Chairman of French Senate’s Friendship Committee of Gulf Countries and France.


Al Hinai, who welcomed Senator Bockel, hoped that interaction and cooperation between the two sides would strengthen.


With regard to bilateral relations, he said the two countries would continue to cooperate in a number of areas.


Al Hinai gave the senator an overview of the council and its role in strengthening state institutions in the Sultanate through the exercise of its powers.


Bockel lauded the comprehensive development the Sultanate has achieved through the Blessed Renaissance led by His Majesty Sultan Qaboos.


Regarding parliamentary relations, he said France looks forward to improving bilateral ties through exchange of visits and sharing of experiences.


He also viewed the film about the State Council that illustrated the stages of development of the Shura march in the Sultanate and the contribution of the State Council to the nation.


Bockel also toured the council building and was briefed about its facilities and infrastructure.
