SALALAH: Pakistan Navy Ship Khaibar made a port call in Salalah from September 11 to 15 during the ship’s operational deployment under the ambit of Combined Task Force (CTF) 150 and 151 for Maritime Security and Counter Piracy Operations, focusing on the Gulf of Aden.

On the occasion, an onboard reception to mark the Defence Day of Pakistan was hosted with representatives from Sultan’s Armed Forces gracing the occasion.

Notables from Pakistani community also participated.

During the port call, both sides utilised the ship’s visit for improving interoperability and flag showing. The visit was concluded with an exercise involving PNS Khaibar and RNOV on the final day of visit.

Pakistan Navy has been an effective and permanent participant of coalition maritime forces since 2004 to prevent piracy at sea as mandated by UNSC resolutions. Pakistan Navy has also held the command of CTF 150 and 151, 10 and 8 times respectively.

Pakistan and Oman are strategic maritime neighbours with Oman regularly participating in Aman exercises in addition to holding bilateral Maritime manoeuvres ‘Thamar Al Tayyab’. The rising frequency of port call across the Sultanate of Oman is reflective of the desire of both nations to further consolidate their historical ties.
