Pact signed for management of water related services

MUSCAT: Majis Industrial Services (MAJIS) has signed a partnership agreement with FCC Aqualia to establish Oman Sustainable Water Services that will commence its works with a capital of RO 500,000.


The new company will initiate its works by the 2nd quarter of 2018. It will manage the operation and maintenance of all services related to water in Sohar Port.


The agreement will undertake operation and maintenance for 20 years of seawater intake plants, production and supply of drinking and process water, the collection and network of cooling water, wastewater treatment and sewage network, and the recycled wastewater.


Initially, it will start with seawater intake and eventually through time will extend the services to other products within the premises of Sohar Port and under the jurisdiction of the Port’s Authority.


Majis is totally government-owned company that has a project of high technical complexity, which includes critical plants of seawater extraction with a capacity of 700,000 m3/hr, associated network, a desalination plant of 20,000 m3/day capacity, a purifier of 10,000 m3/day, a 600,000 m3/hour seawater outfall and pumping system and process, as well as drinking water networks and sewerage of more than 50,000 m3/day.

It receives the industrial wastewater from the tenants of Sohar Industrial Port, treat and recycle it to produce process water aiming to achieve zero discharge to the environment. — ONA
