PACP raids illegal furniture factory in Barka, arrests labourers

MUSCAT: The Public Authority for Consumer Protection (PACP) in Barka, in cooperation with the Public Prosecution and the Barka Police Station, arrested illegal expat labourers and seized large quantities of old and used furniture. The raid was conducted as part of the efforts to protect consumers from shopping anything that may harm their health and safety. As per the details, a house was raided in Barka in cooperation with the Royal Oman Police. The illegal workers were arrested and 43 sofas made of used wood, sewing machines and cutting tools were seized. Article 7 of the Consumer Protection Law promulgated by Royal Decree No 66/2014 prohibits the circulation of any counterfeit, corrupt, counterfeit or unauthorised merchandise, and prohibits advertising.
