SOHAR: The Sultanate, represented by the Public Authority for Consumer Protection (PACP), will celebrate the launching of the Gulf Consumer Protection Week in the Wilayat of Suhar with its counterparts from consumer protection agencies and departments in the GCC countries, under the patronage of Dr Abdulmunim bin Mansour al Hasani, Minister of Information.

Abdulrahman bin Salim al Qasimi, Director-General of the Directorate General of Consumer Protection in the Governorate of North Al Batinah said that the Sultanate’s celebration with its sister countries in the GCC countries stems from the belief of PACP in the prominent role played by GCC consumer bodies, to protect consumers and maintain their safety and health at all levels.

He added that PACP has been celebrating this occasion annually, as it carries noble objectives for all segments of society, spreading consumer culture, raising awareness and seeking partnership between all sectors of society to achieve a balanced market.

He explained that the celebration of PACP in the Wilayat of Suhar will include several activities, most notably a documentary about the march of PACP and its most important achievements. He added that it will also include an exhibition of counterfeit and fraudulent goods drawn from the market and other miscellaneous items, as well as a song recorded specifically for this occasion, in addition to a number of awareness lectures in all governorates of the Sultanate, directed to various civil society organisations. — ONA
