The Consumer Protection Department in Al Rustaq recently imposed fines worth over RO3,000 on a number of commercial establishments for violation of the Consumer Protection Law (66/2014) during the period from August till Mid-September The reasons for the fines varied from a number of violations, including the supply of expired goods, the failure to list the prices of services, raising the price of goods without obtaining approval from the authority, misleading offers and the use of bad quality of wood in the furniture industry. These measures are in line with the provisions of the executive regulations issued recently for the application by the authority on the markets.
