By Amal Al Riyami — NIZWA: April 2 - The Omani Woman’s Association (OWA) in Izki organised the Orphan Day celebration, which falls on April 1. The celebration was held in cooperation with the tripartite team in the presence of Sharifa bint Nasser al Qarni, head of the administration council at OWA. Nearly 100 orphans from all the villages participated in the festival. The association sought to create an atmosphere of fun and entertainment for orphans. The events continued for seven hours at the Al Nargis Hall and was conducted by Adam al Salmi, Aysha al Jahdhami and Zakariya Ambosaidi. Competitions varied between cultural, entertainment and talents.

Alwaleed al Rashidi presented a football show. Moreover, the children interacted with the tripartite teams in the magic games. Among the events there were also corners for henna and painting on the faces. Sharifa al Qarni said: “we were keen to carry out the celebration of this day and to contain the orphans to draw joy on their faces and to honour them. Our religion urges orphan sponsorship. We will not hesitate to lend a helping hand towards the orphans, who expect all segments of society to stand beside him.”
