Over 7,000 attend Youth Creativity Programme

MUSCAT, Jan 2 - More than 7,000 youths actively participated in the Youth Creativity Programme, which is being conducted by the Ministry of Sports Affairs for 2018/2019 season.
The programme, which targets the youth category (up to 30 years) from both genders, is held in three stages. The first phase started in last October and completed on December 31 at the Club level. The second stage, beginning in February, will feature the winners at governorate level while the third and last phase starting in March will see champions in the second place vying for honours. The competition of third stage will be at the Sultanate level.
“We really appreciate all who have taken part in this edition of Youth Creativity Programme. The programme, which included a different range of competitions, is a great platform for sports and youth organisations to present their talented people in different fields like art, chess, poetry, theatre, photography, electronic design, etc.
“The main purpose of this programme is to have a generation of youths who are aware of his/her responsibility and believe in their role to push the sustainability of community development,” Hisham al Sinani, head of Youth Creativity Programme, said.
As many as 44 clubs registered their participation in this edition of the programme. Al Nahdha Club was at the top among the clubs in terms of people participation with 528 participants. Ibri club came second with 460 people. Al Rustaq club claimed third position and recorded 392 participants. Bahla club was placed fourth with 381 participants.
