Orpic celebrates Omani Women’s Day

MUSCAT: Orpic celebrated Omani Women’s Day with a special get together in Suhar in the presence of Dr Rahma Ibrahim Al Mahruqi, Deputy Vice-Chancellor for Postgraduate Studies and Research, Sultan Qaboos University (SQU), along with Ahmed bin Saleh Al Jahdhami, Orpic CEO and special invitees from the community in North Al Batinah.


The high profile event retained a festive atmosphere where women employees extended the hand of friendship and Omani hospitality to fellow colleagues and invitees.


The participants expressed appreciation for designating a day in honour of Omani women and the enviable position that women enjoy in this country, including representation in key government positions.


Ahmed Saleh Al Jahdhami, CEO, Orpic said, “We firmly believe that the development of our nation significantly centre’s on the role played by women. We consider that education, training and equal opportunities are crucial to women’s empowerment. Women are leading key responsibilities and senior positions within our organisation and their contributions are adding to our success.”


Shaima Al Aufi, Manager — Corporate Communications and Chairman, Women’s Leadership Committee, stated, “The number of women employees in Orpic has increased


from 100 in 2011 to 270 in 2017 with an annual growth average of more than 20 per cent, marking a 9 per cent of the overall workforce in technical as well as non-technical positions.


“Our ‘Women’s Leadership Committee’ also continues to play an important role in ensuring the continued success of women in the workplace. As an organisation, we are committed to promoting a suitable work-life balance as well as a sense of bonhomie among fellow colleagues.”


Orpic celebrates Omani Women’s Day in an annual basis to reiterate one of Orpic’s values to serve Oman with pride and that to recognise the essential role women are playing to contribute side by side with their fellow men in driving the country’s growth and development.
