MUSCAT: The Executive Office of the Board of Directors of Oman Olympic Committee (OOC) has approved the Sultanate’s participation in the Asian Indoor Games scheduled to be held in Ashkhabad, Turkmenistan, from September 17 to 27.

The second meeting for this year was held on Tuesday under the chairmanship of Shaikh Khalid bin Mohammed al Zubair, OOC Board Chairman; and in the presence of the office members.

A package of issues on the agenda was discussed during the meeting, including review of the resolutions and recommendations issued by the previous board meeting. The office also reviewed the report submitted by the Planning and Follow-up Committee on the Sultanate’s participation in the 4th Islamic Solidarity Games held in Baku 2017.

The office directed the Planning and Follow-up Committee to revise this report by incorporating the relevant data in coordination with the sports associations for onward submission to the next OOC Board meeting.

The participants also discussed membership of athletes in the OOC Board after having received the reply of International Olympic Committee (IOC) in this respect. The executive office directed Oman Athletes Committee to nominate applicants satisfying the required conditions to be members of this committee pursuant to the Olympic Charter and OOC’s Statutes.

They discussed the memorandum submitted on participation in the next General Assembly of the Olympic Council of Asia (OCA) scheduled to be held from September 18 to 20 on the sidelines of the fifth Asian Indoor Games in Ashkhabad, Turkmenistan.

The OCA’s General Assembly will be attended by Shaikh Khalid bin Mohammed al Zubair, and Khalid al Aadi.
