By Staff Reporter — MUSCAT: MAY 29 - Omantel is continuing with its Give, Care and Share campaign for Ramadhan 2017. The theme keeps with that of last year whereby people in the community are encouraged to follow and spread the values of giving, caring and sharing, especially during the holy month. As part of its association with the Dar Al Atta’a, Omantel will continue to renovate and maintain the houses of several underprivileged families. By the end of this year about 90 houses are expected to be restored across various governorates and wilayats of the Sultanate. Since 2014, Omantel and ‘Dar Al Atta’ Association have together committed to enhance the standards of living of lower income families and uplift their lives through this initiative.

“A house is the most basic and crucial need of a family. By rebuilding homes for families who are less privileged, we are trying to make a more sustainable contribution to society,” said Laila Mohammed al Wahaibi, Omantel’s CSR Manager.

Omantel’s “Together” volunteer team has also played a major role in the success of the Ramadhan campaign. The team has arranged visits to the houses of underprivileged families across the Sultanate.

Through its Ramadhan campaign, Omantel strives to promote and encourage the culture of volunteering and social solidarity among the members of the community.

Omantel was recently recognized by Dar Al Atta’a at the annual charity event held at the Al Bustan Palace hotel, being the largest and platinum supporter of Dar Al Atta Association. Apart from this campaign, the company is engaged in several other CSR activities such as Upgrade initiative aiming to transform students graduation projects into start-ups, Edlal initiative aiming to enrich the Arabic content in the internet in addition to distributing tablet devices to students including those with hearing impairments, hosting workshops for mothers of autistic children, and organising several other youth development programmes.
