Oman’s non-oil exports surge

Oman’s non-oil exports to Qatar increased by 160.3 per cent to RO 210.3 million at the end of December 2017, from RO 80.8 million during the same period in 2016.


Among other countries, the non-oil exports to the UAE increased by 17.6 per cent (RO711m), Saud Arabia by 92.2 per cent (RO 487.2 million), India by 23.4 per cent (RO 310.7 million), China by 23.5 (RO 244 million).


The re-exports (non-oil) to Iran increased by 129.1 per cent (223.8 million), Pakistan by 70.7 per cent (RO 149 million) and Yemen by 56.1 per cent (115.7 million).


The (non-oil) imports to Oman from the UAE dropped by 2.1 per cent, at the same time it increased from the US by 109.6 per cent, China by 34.5 per cent and India by 21.3 per cent.


Imports from Japan also showed a decline of 7.5 per cent.


The value of imports by sea increased by 19.2 per cent while by air it increased by 55.3 per cent.


At the same time, value of imports by land increased by just 4.7 per cent.


Overall, total value of re-exports amounted to RO 256.5 while the total value of merchandise non-oil exports was 291.7 million.


The total value of merchandise exports in December 2017 was RO1,248.5 and there has been an increase in the value of oil and gas exports by 25.8 per cent, compared with the same period in 2016.
