MUSCAT: Oman’s Haitham al Zadjali and Ahmed al Harthi won gold medals in the recently-concluded IFFB World Bodybuilding Championships 2017 held at Benidorm, Alcante in Spain. Haitham won the gold in the 85kg class, while Ahmed took the honours in the 90kg event in the 71st edition of the championships, organised by the International Federation of Bodybuilding and Fitness (IFFB). Another Omani contingent Abdullah al Jabri claimed a silver in the 75kg category with three of the eight-member Oman team winning medals. South Korea’s Nam Kyoungyun took the gold. Iran won the overall title in the championship in 85 countries took part. Other members of the Oman squad were Abdullah al Rahbi, Fahad al Hosni, Abdullah al Hinai, Yahya al Kiyumi and Malik al Harthy. Mohammed al Siyabi (coach) and Nasser al Maskari (head of the delegation) and Asad al Hosni (manager) accompanied the team.
