Omanis in airport project needn’t fear job loss

Omani nationals involved with the new airport will not be affected after completion of their project, Minister of Manpower Abdullah Nasser Abdullah al Bakri has said. This was revealed in a statement made by the office of Majlis Ash’shura.
Responsing to a question related to termination of services of Omanis employed with companies currently working on the new project, he told the Majlis Ash’shura that a team will be formed to find ways to accommodate them or find them jobs in other sectors where opportunities are available.
The team will study how to accommodate Omanis in the new companies that will be operating at the airport, he said.
The team will comprise representatives from the Ministry of Transport and Communications, Ministry of Manpower, Oman Airport Management Company (OAMC) and Oman Air This was revealed during the fourth meeting of Third Annual Session (2017-2018) of the Eighth Session of Shura Council (2015-2019).
The meeting also reviewed the response of the Minister Responsible for Financial Affairs about the delay in collecting revenues from the sale of natural gas, which was attributed to the differences in meter readings for consumers and delay in supply due to technical faults within the network.
