Omani theatre festival in Suhar from Dec 17

MUSCAT: The Ministry of Heritage and Culture will organise the 7th Omani Theatre Festival in the Wilayat of Suhar from December 17 to 25, under the auspices of Sayyid Saud bin Hilal al Busaidy, Minister of State and Governor of Muscat.
Sheikh Hamad bin Hilal al Maamari, Under-Secretary of the Ministry of Heritage and Culture for Cultural Affairs and Head of the Organising Committee said in a press conference held on Sunday at the ministry’s HQs that the organising committee has completed all preparation to open the 7th Omani Theatre Festival.
He added that Suhar University will host the opening ceremony,
which will include three theatre performances as one of them will be from Palestine, the guest of honour.
The theatre pioneers; Abdul Ghafoor al Balushi, Khalil Al Sinani, Abdullah Al Shanfari and Abdul Rahman al Faqih will be honoured during the Festival.
Sayyid Said bin Sultan al Busaidy, Assistant Director General for Arts said that 13 main and sub awards will be distributed onto participants including the Best 1st Integrated Theatre Performance Award, the Best 2nd Integrated Theatre Performance Award and the Best Integrated Theatre Performance Award, in addition to a number of individual awards.
The concluding ceremony will be held at the theatre of the College of Applied Sciences in Suhar under the auspices of Sayyid Fatik bin Fahar al Said, Secretary General of the Ministry of Heritage and Culture. — ONA
