Omani theatre festival concludes

SOHAR: The 7th Omani Theatre under the patronage of Sayyid Fatik bin Fahr al Said, Secretary General of the Ministry of Heritage and Culture, concluded last night which was held in the Wilayat of Suhar from December 17 to 25.


About 13 winners grabbed the awards of the festival. Schizophenia won the best integrated performance, followed by ‘Who on the Right of the King’. The third place was given to ‘Options in Wartime’.


Award for best director of theatre won by Jassim al Batashi, award for theatrical writer won by Badr al Hamdani, best actor award won by Abdel Hakim Salihi. Samira al Wahaibi won the best actress award, best actress second role won by Balqees al Balochi, best actor second role won by Zahid Salami, best costume design won by Al Nadba play, Al Mafqood play won best décor award, award of the best lighting won by ‘Options in Wartime’ play, and the best music award won by Faisal al Shibli.


At the end of the ceremony, the awards were presented to the winners, as well as honouring the committees and supporting institutions for the success of the festival.


The closing ceremony was attended by Shaikh Muhanna bin Saif al Lamki, Governor of North Al Batinah, along with a number of members of Majlis Ash’shura, a number of directors of governmental and private institutions and a large gathering of Omani artists. — ONA
