Muscat: Dr Saif bin Ali bin Salim al Khamisi, Head of Field Crops Research Department at the Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries, won the Union of Arab Scientific Research Councils (UASRC) Award for 2016 for his research entitled ‘Proposed Use of Treated Water and Groundwater in Crop Cycles’. Dr Saif al Khamisi said: “The research is based on mathematical modelling and calculations through which we calculate the quantities of treated water needed for crops.” He added that this research helps decision-makers to expand the use of treated water in agriculture. The awards were distributed by Dr Sumaya Abu Kashwa, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research of Sudan, in Khartoum.
