BUSINESS REPORTER -

MUSCAT, MAY 16 -

The recently concluded first edition of Oil, Gas & Mines Africa Exhibition and Conference (OGMA) held at the Kenyatta International Convention Center, Nairobi, Kenya, offered an ideal platform for ten Omani companies to leverage the timely opportunity to showcase their business potentials to African investors.

OGMA resulted in a resounding success as investors were able to benefit from the untapped opportunity presented by the boom in the region’s industries.

Elaborating on the success of OGMA, Nader Abbas, general manager of event organiser Omanexpo, said “OGMA is a prospect-laden platform for investors, traders and industrialists with special focus placed on its energy and mining sectors. This is evidenced by the participation of Omani companies and 40 other international companies, which has given us encouragement to develop and organize more events, particularly in Kenya, which is the main business hub, in line with our geographic expansion plan, starting with East Africa and Iran. I am pleased to say that we have already scheduled OGMA’s second edition for March 2018.”

The inaugural event was graced by top luminaries that included Dr. Martin Heya, commissioner, Ministry of Energy, Republic of Kenya; Saleh bin Sulaiman al Harthy, Oman’s Ambassador to the Republic of Kenya and Mohammed Dori Yakub, ambassador of the Republic of Kenya to Oman.

Their presence lends credence to the fact that the event was a significant one for the oil and gas and mining industries. It served as a convergence between the extractives industry (oil, gas and mines) and the solutions/technology providers who could spur up the economic development in the larger Africa region.
