Omani bodybuilders receive rousing reception

MUSCAT, May 1 - The Omani bodybuilders returning from the 52th edition of Asian Bodybuilding and Physique Championship in Mongolia were given a rousing welcome at the Muscat International Airport by top officials from the Ministry of Sports Affairs and Oman Bodybuilding Committee.

“These triumphs are added to Oman’s bodybuilding achievements. Oman’s outcome from Asian Bodybuilding and Physique Championship is very fantastic. Beside to the colourful medals, some bodybuilders grabbed professional cards,” Dr Salim al Bahri, head of Oman bodybuilding committee said.

“This is one of the first participation of Oman national team at Asian championship for this year. Next task for the national team will be in West Asia in Bahrain after few days during first week of May. Another participation in Arab championship in next September. World bodybuilding cup will be the last participation for Oman national team this year in November.” head of Oman bodybuilding committee added.

“I would like to thank the Ministry of Sports Affairs, head coaches and our bodybuilder stars for their continues support. Looking forward to more achievements for Oman bodybuilding.” Dr al Bahri concluded.

Sanad al Amri, who bagged silver medal in the 181-metre category in physique, said that the competitions were very high between the bodybuilders.” I was very close to clinch the gold medal but finally Jordan player crowned as champion for this category. This is my first medal in the Asian Championship. I am happy with this triumph and looking forward to better results and achievements in the future. ” Sanad added.

“Big thanks to Oman Bodybuilding Committee and to everyone who supported us to reach for this achievement,” Sanad al Amri concluded.

Oman bodybuilding national team managed to clinch five medals including three gold and two silver. Omar al Maskari won the overall championship in the 175-metre classic bodybuilding category and he got professional card at the top spot. Sulieman al Riyami grabbed the gold medal in physique for junior category. Sanad al Amri clinched silver medal in the 181-metre category in physique and he was very close to clinching the gold medal. Majid al Subhi claimed silver medal in the 70 kg.
