Omani athletes bag three medals at Arab U-19 Athletics Meet

MUSCAT, April 23 - Oman under-19 athletics team captured three medals including one silver and two bronze at the 18th Arab U-19 Athletics Championship that concluded in Amman on Sunday. Ammar al Saifi, Oman’s national team sprinter, bagged a silver medal in the 100 metres while the bronze medal was won by the 4x100m relay quartet that comprised Nawaf al Hooti, Abdulhakim al Noufli, Ammar al Saifi and Al Mutassim al Shikaili in a time of 41.66s. The second bronze medal was won by the 4x400m relay team.


Oman Athletics Association (OAA) general-secretary Jihad Abdullah was head of the delegation. Morocco came on the top spot of overall table with 44 medals that included 18 gold, 17 silvers and nine bronze. Egypt was second with 13 medals including six gold, three silvers and three bronzes. Qatar finished third with eight medals including five gold, one silver and two bronzes. Oman came in the tenth place with three medals including one silver and two bronzes. Palestine was the bottom-placed team with no medals.
