Oman, US seek to maximise potential benefits from FTA

MUSCAT: Dr Ali bin Masoud al Sunaidy, Minister of Commerce and Industry, received in his office on Tuesday Stuart E Jones, US Acting Assistant Secretary of State for the Near East Affairs. The meeting reviewed aspects of joint cooperation between the two friendly countries, particularly in terms of increasing the trade exchange and cooperation in the fields of investment, in addition to imparting of technology, especially in the area of knowledge-based industries and maximising the benefit from the free trade agreement signed between the two countries.

Meanwhile, Sayyid Badr bin Hamad al Busaidy, Secretary-General of the Foreign Ministry, also received Stuart Jones. The meeting dealt with the existing friendship relations and the constructive cooperation between the Sultanate and the US in various spheres, as well as the two countries’ keenness to continue supporting these areas and encouraging the development of economic partnership in light of the existing free trade between the two countries. — ONA
