Oman university team takes on South Africa in opener

Oman national university football team will commence their campaign at the Asian University football tournament by taking on South Africa (the guest team). Oman will play in the first group along with Japan, South Korea (B), South Africa and South Korea (C).
Abdulaziz al Habsi, the head coach of the university team, supervised the team’s training sessions. The Oman players are keen to register a winning result in the opening match for a positive start as in the tournament. During the main training session, Al Habsi and assistant coach Hilal al Salmi focused on the fitness of the players.
Also, players trained on the short distances passes, long balls, reaching to the goal area through penetrating the defences as the coach finalised the starting line-up for the match.
The second group of tournament includes the following teams: South Korea (A), Japan (B), Malaysia, Chinese Taipei and Philippines. All the teams in both the group will play each other. The teams with highest number of points will qualify to the final match.
Oman will meet South Korea (B) team in their second match, while they will face off Japan (A) team in the third match. In the last group matche, the Sultanate team will play against South Korea (C) team.
