MUSCAT, Aug 25 – Oman national university football team will have an internal camp on Sunday for a period of one week prior to travelling to South Korea to take part in the second edition of the Asian university football tournament which is to be held from September 5 to 14. University football team players will have their training sessions at Sultan Qaboos University Stadium under supervision of coach Abdulaziz al Habsi, head coach of the team and assisted by Hilal al Salmi, the assistant coach.
As per the scheduled plan for the internal camp, the university team will take on Nizwa Club for a friendly match and will have more than three training sessions prior to heading off to Korea next week. Coach Abdulaziz al Habsi will finalise the final list of the team by end of the camp. Oman university team completed the first part of internal camp before Eid break. During that camp, Oman team held a 1-1 draw against Fanja team in a friendly match. Al Abd al Noufli netted for Fanja team while Ali al Mujaini equalised for national university team.
Asian university football tournament will feature 12 teams including top teams in Asia such as Japan, the runners-up of the last edition, Iran, champions of the first edition and South Korea, the hosts who finished fourth last time. Oman team won the third place last year.
