By Staff Reporter — MUSCAT: April 5 - Oman has emerged as one of the most favoured tourist destination for travellers from France, as per the statistics available from the Association of Tour Operators Companies (SETO). The figures showed an increase of 158 per cent in the number of bookings from the French market in January this year, compared to the same period last year. It also showed that the number of tourists travelling to Oman from France has jumped by 128 per cent in 2017 compared to the same period last year. The Ministry of Tourism said that these figures are due to intensive promotional campaigns that Oman launched in the French market in recent times.

As Oman had seen a growth of 128 per cent in the number of travellers from France, the nearest competitor in the region is way behind with Egypt having a growth of 29 per cent, followed by the UAE at 17 per cent. In terms of bookings, Oman (158 per cent) is followed by Lebanon (153 per cent), Iran (86 per cent) and the UAE (34 per cent). It may be noted that a few years ago, the Ministry of Tourism had launched a promotional campaign in Paris, including advertisements on buses showcasing Oman’s landscape.
