Oman takes part in ITB Berlin 2017

Represented by the Ministry of Tourism, the Sultanate is taking part in the 51st edition of ITB Berlin 2017, which opens in the German capital today, March 8. The Sultanate’s delegation is being headed by Ahmed bin Nasser al Mehrzi, Minister of Tourism.


This global tourism exhibition is an ideal opportunity for the Sultanate to showcase its tourism products and services and to promote the Sultanate as a perfect all-year destination.


The event takes place for over 5 days, hosting a variety of activities such as meetings, agreement signings, and discussions, with the participation of representatives and investors from all around the world. Last year, the event had witnessed the participation of 10,000 organisations representing 187 countries, and 175,000 visitors.


“ITB Berlin is the largest event concerning the tourism industry, where major organisations and investors from all around the world gather in one spot to exchange knowledge, experiences, and build bridges of common interests. Therefore, we are very keen on promoting the Sultanate through this platform to attract international investors and tourists to our beautiful Oman.


The exhibitions stand as a perfect opportunity for the ministry to introduce Oman to the world, our recent major projects, services and products and also to share tourism solutions and experiences with the participants,” said Al Mehrzi.


“We believe that Oman has all it takes to be a unique international tourism attraction due to its rich heritage, beautiful nature, welcoming people, infrastructure, new projects, and high class hotels and resorts.


The Sultanate is currently witnessing a quantum leap in the tourism sector due to the implementation of the tourism development strategy which covers major projects in the country such as Muscat International Airport, Oman Convention and Exhibition Centre, and Sultan Qaboos Port,” he added.


The Ministry of Tourism has an official suite at the ITB Berlin exhibition among 38 other institutions from the Middle East, where is showcasing all that Oman has to offer to international tourist such as hotels, resorts, travel and tourism agencies.
