The Sultanate, represented by the Public Establishment for Industrial Estates (PEIE), is all set to take part at the 23rd edition of one of world’s largest annual food and hospitality events — Gulfood 2018, in Dubai during the period from February 18 to 22 at Dubai World Trade Centre.

This year, the exhibition will witness the participation of 120 national pavilions including Estonia, Serbia and Slovakia which are participating for the first time. More than 5,000 local, regional and international companies representing 120 countries will feature their products and services at the event.

Hamood al Balushi (pictured), Director of Omani Products’ Department at PEIE’s Directorate General of Marketing and Media, stated that PEIE is always keen to participate at Gulfood as this is its sixth consecutive participation. “This is indeed a major global event, and the local companies and factories are always keen to take part in the event under the Sultanate’s pavilion.

This keenness constantly pushes us to increase the space reserved for the Sultanate’ pavilion, so that more companies from the Sultanate’s food sector can join the event and feature their products and services to the various segments of visitors including consumers, manufacturers, distributors, and investors,” Al Balushi said.

Al Balushi emphasised that Gulfood exhibition offers a valuable opportunity to promote the locally manufactured products and highlight the high quality Omani products. This will eventually play a role in achieving the objectives of Origin Oman campaign.

This campaign aims at promoting and marketing Omani products and thus find new markets for these products at regional and international levels.

It should be noted that PEIE has organised an extensive internal and external campaign throughout the previous years to promote Omani products including promotional activities and mobile exhibitions in various governorates of the Sultanate. PEIE has also joined hands with Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry (OCCI) and the Public Authority for Investment Promotion and Export Development (Ithraa) by organising Omani Products Exhibitions (OPEX) in a number of GCC and international cities.

Al Balushi added that this year, a number of Omani companies and factories representing the food industry will take part in the event, including Dhofar Poultry, Omani Vegetable Oils and Derivatives, Modern Dairy Factory, Salalah Macaroni, Areej Vegetable Oils and Derivatives, Salalah Mills, Oman Foodstuff Factory, Dhofar Cattle Feed Company, Overseas Food Industries, and Sweets of Oman Company. “By participating in this major event, these companies will have the opportunity to highlight their products as well as get familiarised with the products offered by the international companies and the latest global trends,” he said.
