Oman-Singapore trade growing rapidly

SOHAR: The Omani-Singaporean Joint Committee held its 14th meeting at Sohar Crowne Plaza Hotel on Monday. The Omani side was headed by Ahmed bin Hassan al Dheeb, Under-Secretary of the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, and the Singaporean side was chaired by the Under-Secretary of the Singaporean Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Ahmed bin Hassan al Dheeb, Under-Secretary of the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, said in a speech that the meeting discussed a range of important economic issues of interest for both sides including the logistic, fisheries and ITC sectors. He pointed out that the Sultanate and Singapore have strong economic relations that are developing year after year. He noted that 50 Singaporean companies invest in energy, services, construction and ITC sectors in the Sultanate.


He affirmed that the discussions have been good and fruitful as many partnerships and ventures in the different fields will see light soon.


The Under-Secretary of the Singaporean Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Head of the Singaporean delegation said in a speech that the success of the previous session of the committee has reflected on the reciprocal investments in many prioritised sectors by the two countries. He added that the reciprocal trade between the two countries is growing rapidly, as shown in the annual indicators prepared by the Committee. — ONA
