Muscat: The Ministry of Finance on Tuesday issued a financial circular (17/2020), to all government firms on the regulation of some aspects of employment.
The statement stipulates that, as per the Council of Ministers' decision at the Cabinet’ meeting on May 5, 2020, on the regulation of some aspects of the labour market and employment policies at government firms (with a view to expediting recruitment rates and accommodating Omani job seekers), it has been decided to apply retirement status to employees aged more than 60 years pursuant to similar action taken in government departments.
No extension of employment is permitted unless extremely necessary and within very limited parameters, the statement said.
The Ministry of Finance urged all government companies to stick to the directives and implement the decision. ONA
