Oman qualify for tent pegging world cup

Oman riders took third silver on the concluding day and qualified for the tent pegging world cup, which will be held in Russia in 2018. Yemen was crowned as champions and Jordan came third in the qualifying competition held in Salalah on Friday. The event was organised by Oman Equestrian Federation under the auspices of the International Tent Pegging Federation. It is the first of the four qualifiers, arranged by the International Tent Pegging Federation (ITPF), to pick ten best teams for the World Cup besides hosts Russia.


The next three qualifiers are scheduled next year in Sudan (January), Australia (January) and Saudi Arabia (February). The medals and awards were presented to the riders by Sayyid Mohammed bin Sultan bin Hamoud al Busaidy, Minister of State and Governor of Dhofar in the presence of the British Ambassador to the Sultanate, the Yemeni Ambassador to the Sultanate and officials.


Yemen came first with 532 points, Oman was second with 498.5 points and Jordan third with 399. 5 points. Qatar and the UK scored 377 and 338 points.
