The Ministry of Tourism (MoT) will take part in the 37th World Tourism Market (WTM), which opens in London today, November 6. The 3-day event is expected to host almost 5,000 organisations and participants from 186 countries around the globe. The Sultanate’s delegation will be led by Maitha bint Saif al Mahrouqiyah, Under-Secretary of the Ministry.

Oman has a 255 sq m modern pavilion at the WTM that has been designed in keeping with the Sultanate’s rich culture and heritage. It is noteworthy that 20 companies, namely tourism facilities, hotels and craftsman are showcasing their tourism products at the WTM this year. Few new names will be taking part in the event for the first time — such as Al Faiha Tours under the Royal Affairs Court and Sama Hotel in Jabal Al Akhdar.

Mark Tours, Al Zahraa Travel and Tourism, Shangri La Barr Al Jissah, OAMC, Bahwan Travel, Oman Companies and Hotels group, Anantara Jabal Akhdar, Al Watania Travel and Tourism, Magic Arabia, Crown Plaza, Khimjis Travel and Tourism, Shangri La Hotels and Resorts, Al Baleed Resort Salalah, The Chedi Muscat, Oman Royal Opera House, Arabian Experience Office, and Golden Tulip, are among the other tourism companies that are participating.

Through its participation in this prestigious tourism event, the Sultanate aims to promote Oman as an ideal tourism destination all year round, by highlighting the most prominent tourism projects and services, exchanging knowledge and expertise with the participants, as well as building investment relationships with leading companies from around the world in the tourism sector. The Sultanate also aims to bring to light the efforts made by local tourism companies in Oman, and the MoT’s constant endeavours to promote these efforts. Last year, the WTM witnessed more than 80 workshops encompassing a variety of topics in the tourism sector, such as aviation, hotels, weddings, honeymoon plans, the art of cooking, sports tourism, responsible tourism, and the role of social media and travel technology.

London’s WTM is one of the most highly anticipated international events as it is known for offering opportunities to meet with the world’s leading tourism experts, discussing the latest trends and updates in the tourism industry, and offering the chance for commercial relationships. The exhibition also offers the chance to attract tourism investment from around the world.
