The winners of Young Journalist Contest were recently honoured by Oman Daily Observer after a competition was launched late last year in cooperation with Al Hazm Team. Dozens of students from Besia School for Basic Education participated. The competition was a follow through to the training workshop conducted by Observer, a social responsibility initiative which promotes and encourages young journalists to sharpen their writing skills. The first place went to Tharwa Ali Nasser Al Omairiyah, while Rawan Nasser Mohammed al Ofiyah, Amal Zaher Humaid al Khatriyah and Taqwa Rashid Masuood Al Jadidiyah won the second, third and fourth places, respectively. Winning articles will be published in Oman Observer English newspaper as part of the efforts to support budding writers and reinforce the partnership between the newspaper and other competent bodies. The Observer intends to take the competition to the wilayat levels.
