JEDDAH: Oman News Agency (ONA) took part in the 5th session meeting of the General Assembly of the International Islamic News Agency (IINA), which was held at the HQs’ of the Secretariat-General of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) in Jeddah, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA). The delegation was led by Dr Mohammed bin Mubarak al Araimi, ONA Director-General, Editor-in-Chief.
The meeting was opened by Dr Awad bin Saleh Al Awad, KSA Minister of Culture and Information, Chairman of IINA Executive Council.
The meeting discussed topics listed on the agenda, such as approving the draft budget framework for 2017, 2018 and 2019, in addition to the approval of final accounts and budget for inter-sessional years.
The meeting also discussed the Comprehensive Media Action Plan within the OIC 2025 programme of action and the role of news agencies in member states in supporting the Palestinian Cause as per decisions of the Islamic Conference of Information Ministers, in addition to supporting the joint work of national news agencies in the OIC Member States.
On the sidelines of the meeting, IINA Media Training Centre was inaugurated.
