MUSCAT: Oman and Nepal held a bilateral meeting at the Ministry of Manpower earlier this week to discuss a proposed Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) covering cooperation in the field of labour and training.

A technical team of five members headed by Dr Ram Prasad Ghimire, Joint Secretary of Ministry of Labour, Employment and Social Security of Nepal, arrived in Muscat at the invitation of the Omani side.

The officials from the Embassy of Nepal, Muscat also participated in the meeting.

Both sides discussed and exchanged views on all articles of the proposed MoU. Both the parties agreed to conclude the MoU as soon as possible.

The proposed MoU is related to promotion and development of cooperation in labour and training on the principle of mutual interests, as well as securing the rights and welfare of both workers and employers pursuant to the prevailing laws of both countries.

The delegation also had an introductory tour of the Higher College of Technology and Al Seeb Vocational Training College in Muscat.
