Oman marks non-violence day today

NIZWA, Oct 1: The Sultanate will celebrate the International Day of Non-Violence, which falls on October 2 every year.


In an effort to spread awareness and promote commitment to global peace and non-violence, the Raja Yoga Centre for Self-development, a non-profit organisation, celebrates the day every year in Oman, in cooperation with


the Indian Embassy and other organisations.


On the occasion, a lecture will be delivered by Jayanti Kirpalani, Director, Europe and Middle East, Brahma Kumaris World Spiritual University. She is also the university’s main representative to the United Nations (UN).


Born in India, and raised and educated in England, Jayanti is a unique blend of eastern wisdom and western logic.


She assists in the overall coordination of her activities in more than 100 countries.


Her travels have taken her around the world. Her lectures are focused on health, education, ethnic harmony, women’s needs, world religions, sustainability, peace and international relations.


The celebrations are expected to be attended by prominent figures who have contributed to the spread of peace as well as media personalities.
