Oman, India hold talks session

MUSCAT: A session of talks between the Sultanate and India was held at the Council of Ministers headquarters on Monday. The Omani side was chaired by His Highness Sayyid Fahd bin Mahmood al Said, Deputy Prime Minister for the Council of Ministers, while it was headed from the Indian side by Narendra Modi, Prime Minister of India. HH Sayyid Fahd welcomed the guest and his accompanying delegation, wishing the relations between the two friendly countries permanent progress and growth.


At the beginning of the meeting, Narendra Modi, Prime Minister of India, hailed outcomes of his meeting with His Majesty Sultan Qaboos and listening to wise views of His Majesty. The meeting came up with a new leap at the level of cooperation between the two countries. He also expressed his admiration over the achievements made on the Omani land. Further, he expressed his country’s admiration of the wise policy being pursued by the Sultanate at the domestic and international levels.


The Omani-Indian talks touched on means of activating all aspects of the bilateral cooperation between the two friendly countries particularly in economic, cultural, telecommunications areas, as well as information technology, energy projects and mineral resources, transport and construction facilities, health, higher education and scientific research, sharing expertise and Omani cadres training, enhancing the role of the Joint Businessmen Council between Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the Indian Chamber of Commerce and Industry due to the importance of the private sector in supporting joint ventures at sectors of industry, tourism, agriculture and fisheries.


Additionally, the talks discussed a range of regional and international issues. The talks also reviewed the latest developments being witnessed by the region, as well as the efforts exerted to achieve security and stability in a bid to realise further development and welfare for peoples at the region.


HH Sayyid Fahd commended the positive outcomes achieved by this visit, as well as its joint vision between the two countries to serve interests of both friendly peoples.


The session of talks was attended from the Omani side by the Minister Responsible for Foreign Affairs, Minister Responsible for Financial Affairs, Minister of Oil and Gas (Head of the Mission of Honour accompanying the Prime Minister of India), Minister of Higher Education, Minister of Commerce and Industry, Minister of Manpower, Minister of Health, Minister of Transport and Communications, Minister of Agriculture and Fisheries and the Sultanate’s Ambassador to India. It was also attended from the Indian side by members of the official delegation accompanying the Prime Minister of India. — ONA
