Oman, IAEA cooperation discussed

MUSCAT: Sayyid Badr bin Hamoud al Busaidy, Secretary-General of the Foreign Ministry, received in his office on Tuesday Dr Najat Mokhtar, Director at the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) for Technical Cooperation. The visit of IAEA official to the Sultanate comes in a bid to follow-up the progress in implementing the technical cooperation projects between the Sultanate and the IAEA, particularly in the areas of health, agriculture, fisheries and radiation protection. The visit also aims to discuss, with the senior officials in the Sultanate, means of enhancing the bilateral relations in a bid to use the peaceful applications of nuclear technology in the framework of sustainable development goals. Sayyid al Busaidy valued the support rendered by IAEA to the Sultanate in the field of radiological and nuclear safety and technical capacity building. IAEA Director for Technical Cooperation expressed IAEA’s readiness to continue supporting the Sultanate to apply the peaceful nuclear technologies in various fields under the existing technical cooperation between the two sides. — ONA
