Oman hold Japan 2-2 in thriller at Asian University tourney

MUSCAT, Sept 9 - Oman national university football team held Japan to a 2-2 draw in their third match at Asian University tournament in South Korea’s Taebeck city. With the result, the Sultanate team gained their fourth point after a victory in first match against South Africa and a loss from the host country South Korea. After a goalless first-half, Oman’s Ali al Mujaini netted in the 47th minute. After two minutes, Japan equalised through Sorri Togo. Talal al Awadi brought back Oman to lead again in the 53rd minute. However, Japan pulled back the second equaliser in the 83rd minute. Al Muntaser al Riyami missed a golden opportunity in the 93rd minute as he was very close to score the winning goal but Japan’s goalkeeper saved the shot. South Korea B team topped the group with seven points and South Korea C were second with four points with a better goal-average than Oman who also have four points. South Africa were last without any points.
