Oman flays attack, killing of Emiratis

MUSCAT: The Sultanate strongly condemned the terrorist attack on Kandahar Provincial Governor’s Office that led to the injury of the ambassador of the sisterly United Arab Emirates and the death of five Emirati diplomats who were accompanying the ambassador on a humanitarian mission for the benefit of the friendly Afghani people, according to the statement issued by the Foreign Ministry on Wednesday. The Sultanate expressed its deep condolences and sympathy to the families of the UAE martyrs and to the two countries on this tragic event. The Sultanate also affirmed its firm stance and solidarity with the UAE and Afghanistan in their endeavours to fight these heinous crimes that is against all human norms and morals. Five UAE officials were among 57 people killed in a string of bombings across Afghan cities. The Emiratis were among 12 people killed when explosives hidden in a sofa detonated inside the governor’s compound on Tuesday, while the UAE’s ambassador to Afghanistan escaped the attack with injuries. — ONA
