Oman, Egypt sign MoU to promote tourism

By Staff Reporter — MUSCAT: Dec. 13: The Sultanate and Egypt on Tuesday signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on tourism, on the sidelines of meeting of the Executive Office of the Arab Ministerial Council for Tourism in Muscat. The MoU was signed by Ahmed bin Nasser al Mehrzi, Minister of Tourism, and Mohammed Yahya Rashid, Minister of Tourism of Egypt. Yahya told the Observer, “We have signed an agreement that gives us an outline and a framework to work together in many areas such as technical support and investment. We can work together in developing a relationship between Oman and Egypt.”


The minister said the areas that would need immediate attention are the traffic between the two countries, manpower development, technical assistance and formation of a steering committee to proceed further. The main objectives of the MoU are to invest in the tourism and hospitality sector, participation in travel fairs, exhibitions in each other’s country and encouraging cooperation between tourism stakeholders, including hotels and tour operators.
