Oman, Egypt agree to boost relations

President Abdel Fattah el Sisi of the Arab Republic of Egypt, received His Highness Sayyid Fahd bin Mahmood al Said, Deputy Prime Minister for the Council of Ministers, at his residence at Al Alam Palace Guesthouse on Monday, within the framework of the Egyptian President’s visit to the Sultanate. At the beginning of the meeting, HH Sayyid Fahd stressed the importance of the visit of the Egyptian President and his delegation to the Sultanate due to its positive impacts at the level of the existing strong relations between the two brotherly countries. He hailed the permanent role of Egypt in supporting ties of brotherhood and friendship with the Sultanate.


On his turn, President Sisi commended the talks he had with His Majesty Sultan Qaboos. He expressed his sincere thanks and appreciation to His Majesty, the government and the Omani people for the attention and appreciation accorded to the visit, which reflect the deep-rooted, historic relations binding the peoples of both countries. President Sisi admired the landmark places he visited in the Sultanate, as well as the comprehensive development being witnessed by the Sultanate under the leadership of His Majesty the Sultan.


During the meeting, a range of matters pertaining to bilateral cooperation between the two countries were reviewed in several fields, as well as raising it to a level that satisfies the ambitions of the two brotherly peoples. The Joint Committee between the two sides will continue in realising the policies agreed upon by the leaderships of both countries.

The meeting was attended from the Omani side by Yusuf bin Alawi bin Abdallah, Minister Responsible for Foreign Affairs (Head of the Mission of Honour accompanying the Guest), Shaikh Al Fadhl bin Mohammed al Harthy, Secretary-General of the Council of Ministers, HH Sayyid Kamil bin Fahd al Said, Assistant Secretary-General at the Office of the Deputy Prime Minister for Cabinet Affairs, and Dr Ali bin Ahmed al Issa’ee, Sultanate’s Ambassador to Egypt, its Permanent Delegate to the Arab League. It was attended from the Egyptian side by the official delegation accompanying the President Sisi. — ONA
