Oman to discuss report on rights of people with disabilities

GENEVA: The Sultanate’s delegation will discuss in Geneva on Tuesday the first national report on the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities, which reflects the Sultanate’s keen interest in the provisions of the Convention and its sincere desire to cooperate with the Committee on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities.


The delegation of the Sultanate is headed by Shaikh Mohammed bin Said al Kalbani, Minister of Social Development, and includes Dr Yahya bin Mohammed al Farsi, Associate Professor at the College of Medicine and Health Sciences at SQU, and officials and experts from the Ministry of Social Development, Ministry of Legal Affairs, Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Manpower.


The delegation also includes Hamoud bin Nasser al Shithani, Deputy Chairman of the Omani Association for Hearing Impaired, Yahya bin Abdullah al Ameri, Member of the OHRC, Jamila bint Juma al Hadia from the NCSI, and Khalid bin Zayed al Ameri, sign language interpreter at the Ministry of Social Development. — ONA
