MUSCAT, OCT 28 - Oman Air and Muscat Duty Free (MDF) were awarded the Inflight Retailer of the year 2017 during the annual Frontier Awards on 6th October, at Palm Beach in Cannes, France.
The award was one of 17 presented during the glittering ceremony across a wide range of categories that recognises the best of duty free and travel retail industries with the attendance of more than 650 guests.
On hand to accept the award was MDF, General Manager, Martin Mullen and Inflight Duty Free Manager, Abbas Sherwala.
Oman Air and MDF’s Inflight programme faced stiff competition within their category from major international airlines KLM and Cathay Pacific.
Other notable winners on the night were Dubai Duty Free (Airport Retailer of the year) and Heathrow Airport (Airport Operator of the year). The Frontier Awards recognises best practice, rewards innovation and celebrates excellence across the global travel retail industry.
Martin Mullen commented, “This award is judged independently by some of the most influential people in the industry, the Frontier Awards deliver the ultimate level of prestige to winning and short-listed companies.”
Mullen also commented that “The Oman Air Inflight Operation is an award winning concession contract operated by MDF that commenced in 2010. MDF is an Aer Rianta International joint venture company with Oman Air. The success of the partnership has proved to be a commanding factor in the development of the Inflight programme”.
The latest accolade can be added to Oman Air and MDF’s list of industry awards which include being awarded “Best In-Flight Duty Free” Provider by Pax International Magazine in April 2017.
Engineer Abdulaziz al Raisi, Acting CEO, Oman Air commented, “At Oman Air we work very hard with our partner MDF to ensure that we are providing our guests with the absolute best and this encompasses every detail of the on board experience, including the products that we sell on our aircraft”.
Al Raisi also commented, “To win this award with such stiff competition in our category is a testament to the commitment of our teams to providing the absolute best Inflight flight duty free programme.”
