Oman Embassy in Turkey clarifies on flight diversion

Muscat: Oman's Embassy in Turkey has given a statement on the emergency landing of Oman Air's Muscat-Manchester flight at Istanbul's Ataturk Airport.


The embassy said it was in contact with the director of the Oman Air Station in Istanbul, Ishaq al Zadjali, on the emergency landing of the flight W105.


The embassy said the station manager spared no efforts to facilitate the departure of Oman Air passengers to their usual destination and provide relief for those who did not have a flight in time.


The embassy it continues to communicate with some of the passengers who wished to stay at the airport for the first flight to their destination. Oman Air provided them with the business hall at the airport.


It added that efforts are under way to provide the nearest accommodation as passenger passports remained with officials to complete the proceedings.


Oman Air flight WY105 from Muscat to Manchester was diverted to Ataturk International Airport in Istanbul for technical reasons,  the company said


in a statement late Thursday.


In a statement, Oman Air said, "Upon arrival, all guests were met and assisted by Oman Air's Ataturk International Airport staff. Our teams are making all the necessary arrangement to re-accommodate all affected guest to their final destinations through alternative flights. "We sincerely apologise for any inconvenience this incident has caused," the airline said.


There were reactions from passengers of the flight WY105 in the social media about the diversion.
