MUSCAT: Oman Cancer Association (OMA) is holding a workshop on spiritual therapy today and tomorrow, February 19 and 20, at Avenues Mall Hall from 8 am to 4 pm. It is aimed at introducing the concept of spiritual therapy among health workers, volunteers, caregivers and religious counsellors. The workshop is among the series of continuous awareness counselling training programmes being held in support of cancer patients, survivors and their relatives, in effectively dealing with the disease. On the agenda is a topic on how to address spiritual needs and the basis of spiritual therapy. Discussions will also focus on the importance of networking in palliative care and the spiritual care from an Islamic perspective. Discussions will reflect on the examples in Quran and Sunnah, barriers to care, scope of services, end-of-life care, and the ethical challenges.
