OCA chief elected to cancer control board

Muscat, Oct 2 – Dr Waheed bin Ali al Kharousi, the Chairman of Oman Cancer Association (OCA), has been elected member of the board of directors of Union for International Cancer Control (UICC). Dr Al Kharousi was elected at the World Cancer Congress being held in Malaysia in the presence of Her Highness Dr Mona bint Fahd al Said, Patron of OCA, and Princess Dina al Hussein, President of UICC. This is the first time that a Gulf Society/Association as well as from MENA (Middle East and Africa) region has been granted membership of the board, reflecting the impact of OCA’s work in the fight against cancer. The meeting in Malaysia is aimed at strengthening the action and impact of the cancer community on national, regional and international scale through its educational programme, which includes prevention, treatment and palliative care. UICC, one of the largest international organisations combating cancer, is a member of more than 1,000 organisations in more than 160 countries.
