Muscat, August 29 - Contrary to reports about a rise in the mercury levels over the weekend, the Met Office said the maximum temperature will continue to range between 40-43 degrees Celsius.

“This is especially in the case of Yanqul, Izki and Samayil,” said the Met Office at the Public Authority for Civil Aviation (PACA). “Minimum temperature is expected to range between 20 and 30 degrees Celsius. In the mountain areas such as Saiq in Dakhiliya and Qairoon Hairiti in Dhofar, it will be in the twenties.”

“For the temperature to go up, we need northwest winds but currently we are experiencing southeast winds which are warm and moist,” said the weather expert.

“After two days, we can expect cloud development over Al Hajjar mountains and adjoining areas but no chance of rain,” he said. Low-level clouds and fog patches are expected along the coastal areas of Arabian Sea and Oman Sea.

Intermittent drizzle is to be seen over the Dhofar mountains, while the khareef is expected to get weaker. However, the season will continue until mid-September.
