MUSCAT, SEPT 9 - Xian Hui, Governor of the Ningxia Autonomous Region, received at the weekend Yahya bin Said al Jabri, Chairman of the Special Economic Zone Authority in Duqm (SEZAD), and his accompanying delegation, who are currently visiting China as part of the Sultanate’s participation in the China-Arab Expo and ‘Invest in Duqm’ roadshow organised by SEZAD in three Chinese cities.

During the meeting, the Governor of Ningxia hailed Oman’s efforts to clear the decks for the speedy implementation of Chinese projects envisaged as part of the Chinese Industrial City in Duqm. Oman Wanfang LLC, a consortium of Chinese investors, plans to implement a total of 35 projects at the SEZ with an investment totalling around $10.7 billion.

Shaikh Abdullah bin Saleh al Saadi, the Sultanate’s Ambassador to China, welcomed the burgeoning industrial and economic relationship between the two countries. “We have seen great interest from Chinese officials and companies to invest in the Sultanate and there is support from the central government in Beijing and the local government in Ningxia for this trend,” Al Saadi said.

Oman’s pavilion at the China-Arab Expo, which concluded on Saturday, had pulled in large crowds. Representatives from 47 countries, executives from 1,080 companies, and 5,000 exhibitors covering 31 industries ranging from transport to huge data attended the four-day exhibition, held in Yinchuan, capital of northwest China’s Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region.

During his China visit, Yahya al Jabri and his accompanying delegation toured a company specialised in water desalination in Yinchuan Industrial Zone. The company is part of the Oman Wanfang consortium.
