Newcomers make the difference as Dortmund beat Frankfurt

Dortmund, Germany: Spain forward Paco Alcacer struck in his debut appearance as Borussia Dortmund beat Eintracht Frankfurt 3-1 on Friday to move them to the top of the Bundesliga standings again for at least one night.
Abdou Diallo opened the scoring for Dortmund in the 36th off a corner kick, Sebastien Haller levelled midway through the second half but former Frankfurt player Marius Wolf in the 72nd and the substitute Alcacer in the 88th clinched victory for Dortmund.
Diallo, Wolf and Alcacer all scored their first Dortmund goals after arriving in summer.
Dortmund were not glorious but moved top again in the standings with seven points from three games. Frankfurt are ninth with three points.
Champions Bayern Munich, Wolfsburg and Hertha Berlin all have a maximum six going into their Saturday games, with Munich hosting lowly Bayer Leverkusen and Wolfsburg playing Hertha in a direct duel.
“I am happy. But we need time to control the game in a better way. We must be better when under pressure. We need more patience,” Dortmund coach Lucien Favre told Eurosport.
Frankfurt goalkeeper Kevin Trapp said: “The result is disappointing. We have suffered two unlucky defeats now but showed that we can play football. The next weeks won’t be easy but we also need a success.”
Favre left 2014 World Cup hero Mario Goetze and Alcacer on the bench at the start while Danish teenager Jacok Bruun Larsen, who scored four goals in a recent friendly, was in the starting 11.
The hosts needed a set-piece in the 36th to open the scoring, the former Mainz defender Diallo poking home after his header off a corner kick was saved by Trapp.
Chances remained sparse after the break and Favre tried to improve matters up front by bringing on young Jaden Sancho, the former Barcelona man Alcacer for the first time, and Axel Witsel as Gotze saw no playing time yet again. Frankfurt levelled in the 68th after some sloppy Dortmund defending, Haller beating Buerki into the far left corner for his third goal of the season. — dpa
